Aleksandr Buzakov: Our positions in civilian ship building are weaker than in military one
Results of ÎÀÎ Severnaya Verf’s extraordinary shareholders meeting became known yesterday. Moscow-based Mezhprombank having redeemed the shipyard’s controlling interest from New Programs and Concepts (NPC) Holding, formed new board of directors of the enterprise predominantly of its representatives. According to Ú, a few days before, the new shareholder changed the Severnaya Verf’s General Director to Aleksandr BUZAKOV. Following his appointment, he gave the first interview to ALEKSANDRA GRITSKOVA, Ú reporter.

Severnaya Verf changes hands
As it became known yesterday, management of Severnaya Verf was entrusted to a new General Director, Aleksandr Buzakov, former Chief Engineer of Admiralteiskiye Verfi. The appointed was initiated by Moscow-based Mezhprombank that has recently completed redemption of the Severnaya Verf controlling interest. According to the bank management, they would like to see the yard headed by a more ambitious manager, while the enterprise is waiting for further staff changes.

The Severnaya Verf controlling interest owner, Mezhprombank, announced yesterday resignation of Valery Venkov, the Severnaya Verf General Director. Venkov will be superseded by Aleksand Buzakov, former Chief Engineer of Admiralteiskiye Verfi. According to experts, new shareholder frees the shipyard from creatures of Boris Kuzyk, the shipyard’s former owner.

At the last weekend, United Industrial Corporation (UIC), a company managing industrial assets of International Industrial Bank, announced its two simultaneous considerable acquisitions. The first one was the redemption of controlling interest (53.48%) in the Severnaya Verf, one of the largest Russian ship builders, then the purchase of 13.78% of shares in OAO OKB Sukhoy, a legendary design office.

Yesterday, United Industrial Corporation (UIC), a company managing industrial assets of International Industrial Bank completed the transaction of acquiring controlling interest of ship builder Severnaya Verf from New Programs and Concepts industrial holding (NPC). The transaction put an end to the influence spheres distribution between Mezhprombank and NPC leaving the latter with a number of almost unappealing enterprises, whereas the bank acquired assets of major Russian defense enterprises.
