Kyzyl-Kuragino railroad construction is the main project in Asia.
Transport as a locomotive plays an important role in social-economic development of Russia. The investment demand for interregional commerce contributes to the many transport project realization, especially railroad. It, for its turn, is a stimulus for native transport engineering industry. Almost all these projects were prepared in 1970s -1980s by special committee under the direction of academic Tigran Khachaturian (decd. 20 years ago, in September, 14, 1989 to be precise). But that time the authority was more significant then transport-economic demand in USSR. Therefore none of those projects wasn’t realized. Modern motives to renovate it rest previous. At last spacious Russian North will get steel rail-way, connected with Trans-Siberia railway and North-West of Russia. It deals with trans-polar analogue of Trans-Siberia rail-way. On the evidence of Khanti-Mansiysk, Yamalo-Nenezckiy and Sverdlovsk Territory administration this project has already worked out and in October this year it’s planned to apply 105 bln rubles to Investment Fund for the construction of Ural-Siberia rail-way (Polunochnoe-Salekhard-Nadym). This will be the longest steel rail-way in the world. Its construction is planned to carry out in 2010-2015. the project has already been included in the “Conception of social-economic development of Russia till 2020”. General macroeconomic effect will total 8 bln rubles, and cargo transportation is plannd to triple. For the first 3-5 year it’s planned to supply oil, compressed gas from Nadym (Yamal) to the western direction, wares of oil and gas hole to the eastern direction. Many sea and river ports in this region will be simultaneously reconstructed. By the way, trans-polar Trans-Siberia railway was being built in 1948-1953, but was frozen after Stalin’s death. In frameworks of Russian Railways, regional administrations and business-cultures this project was restarted with the assistance of German and Scandinavian specialists in 2004-2006. Administrations of northern and north-eastern subjects of Russia support this scale project. It will let develop large hydro-, wood resources, non-ferrous metal-fields and also fields of diamonds, gold, platinum, silver and semiprecious stones and strengthen positions in Arctic region and decide a lot social problems at the territory of this country. Kyzyl-Kuragino railroad construction is the main project in Asia (Tyva Republic, Krasnoyarsk Territory). The length of this railroad will total about 500 km. it will let develop coal-field and fields of iron ore, bauxites, gold and wood resources. In addition to it many unique resorts will be more accessible. At last Tyva will be connected with Russia though it was planned as early as 1930s. The total cost of this project is 131 bln rubles. The deadline of the construction is about 6 years. At that it deals with full development of this direction: Mongolia has recently offered to extend this link from Kyzyl to its country (about 300 km). It’s planned to start the construction of Bijsk-Gorno-Altaiysk railroad (Altai Territory – Altai Republic), the length of which totals 120 km, started in 1960s. in 2007 RF president Vladimir Putin charged with the construction of it, and in 2008 this project was included in “the strategy Russian railroad transport development”. The construction of this railway is set for 2012-2015. The investment part totals more than 25 bln rubles. The construction of parallel modern high-way will simultaneously be built. The construction of this railway by this time will increase supplies of Altai agricultural goods, especially cereals, to other RF regions. Besides, it’s planned to resume large fields of metallurgy, raw materials, precious and semiprecious stones. At last RF Ministry of regional Development approved the project of a large interregional railway (Arkhangelsk Territory – Republic of Komi – Middle Ural), the length of which will be 1260 km. The construction of it is planned to start at the latest 2011. According to this project, it will join North-West of Russia, Scandinavia, Asia region of Russia, Central Asiatic and Pacific countries. Therefore it will be international business. Beside, the developing of different natural resources like bauxites, manganese, oil, iron ore and carbons, not to mention great reserves of wood will be possible. Key points in transport-infrastructure development were highlighted in the South of Russia. These are navigation canal projects in North Sea and Caspian Sea, Volga-Don-2, the realization of which is scheduled for 2011. Also it’s planned to build motorways between Volga region and Northern Caucasia with the outlet to Transcaucasia and Iran, new ferry-links in Caspian Sea between Russia and Turkmenistan, Russia and Iran. Owing to Olympic Games-2014 in Sochi there are a lot of transport projects that to be planned. These are construction of modern highways, railways and airports to join other RF territories. No less important projects, which are planned to realize, are railroads between Northern and Southern Osetia (Alagir-Cskhinval), 60 km in length; Stavropol region and Caspian region of Dagestan (Budennovsk – Neftekumsk – Artesian), 180 km in length; Volgograd and Elista, Aksaraiysk and Elista (Low Volga region and Northern Caucasia), 280 and 250 km in length correspondently. In Aleksey Abushev’s opinion, the director of the station Elista, the link between Elista and Aksaraiysk for us is more reasonable, because it will be the shortest way between Russia and Kazakhstan. «- back to list
