Baltiysky Zavod

JSC Baltiysky zavod was founded in 1856 and for a century and a half it has been one of the leading shipbuilding enterprises of Russia.

Baltiysky zavod specializes in construction of military ships, heavy-tonnage civil vessels for carriage of various cargoes and icebreakers (propelled by nuclear and diesel power plants). The shipyard is building Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax cargo/passenger ships, chemical-carrying tankers, bulkers, etc.

Having its own design/engineering departments enables Baltiysky zavod to offer a number of promising designs of its own  heavy-tonnage LNG tankers, multipurpose icebreaking supply vessels, floating nuclear and diesel power generation units, vessels for technical support of shelf operations, floating desalination facilities.

The enterprise produces a broad spectrum of ship power equipment and ship machines intended for installation on its own ships and vessels and for supply to other shipbuilding enterprises. The shipyard is a maker of heat exchange equipment for nuclear power plants and a supplier of non-ferrous and steel castings.

To build vessels, the shipyard has three building facilities – two building slipways and one covered berth. The Russia’s biggest slipway of 350 meters in length enables the enterprise to build vessels ranging up to 100 thou. t in deadweight.

Baltiysky Zavod’s Quality Management System is certified for conformity with the International standards. The enterprise holds the certificates from the leading classification societies - Norwegian Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI), Russian Sea Register of Shipping, German Lloyd and others.

Entry of the enterprise to the world shipbuilding market has given an impetus to overall upgrading of its facilities. In 2003-2004, the yard commissioned a new hull-plating shop, which can process up to 60 thou. tons of metal per year. Now Baltiysky Zavod is a modern enterprise which is capable of competing not only with the domestic shipyards, but also with the world leaders.
